Q2 Lessons and Q3 Forecasting

We are officially in Q3 and I can't believe that half the year is done.

I'm reflecting on a few lessons that I learned from Q2 and what I'm looking forward to in this new quarter.

Know your ask

I went to NYC in April for Social Media Week. It was a risky move seeing I still living off savings but I'm glad that I went. The host asked for participants to come on stage and pitch what they were looking. There was no time to really prep. With my shaky voice, I introduced myself and share my ask. That moment taught me to stay ready so I don’t have get ready AND I need to practice my pitch. Oh and I might need different pitches based on my audience.

Know when to walk away

I came into 2026 with a little chip on my shoulder because I just knew I was going to land this client that I have been prospecting for a few months. We sent over the proposal with solutions. The prospect came back with a budget that was down right disrespectful. We scaled down the scope and still couldn’t land on a deal. This deal would've changed the game for me so that 'no' hurt deeply. I cried. It made me a better businesswoman though, I can say that now months removed from that situation.

Now let's chat about what I am setting my sight on for this new quarter…

Learning to enjoy the journey

I think many of us get caught up in how long it will take to get to our desired destination/goal. Maybe not having the best attitude, maybe complaining, maybe comparing yourself to others all while waiting for what we want to come to us. I've learned that isn't the best use of my time and energy. For Q3, I'm focusing on waiting well. The time is going to pass and I'd rather spend my time falling in love with what I'm building.

Becoming the person to receive what I'm asking for

I had this really great conversation with my esthetician. She is an entrepreneur and she was asking me how my journey going. I wasn't having the greatest day so I was lamenting about what's going on. And she shared some encouraging words with me and what stood out is becoming the person to receive what I'm asking for. On the car ride home, I really thought about who I wanted be and saw some gaps. I want to spend more time this quarter to close them.

Make the ask

From hopping on that stage at Social Media Week, I learned that scared money don’t make no money. I must ask for the things I desire and have no shame about it either. Fortune favors the bold and this business owner journey is showing me I gotta ask for the things I want.
